Alen Adjemovic

Alen joined the Scott Coatings team in August of 2019 as a Foreman and plays a key role in leading our projects, teaching others and inspiring positivity. His certifications consist OSHA 30, Lift Training, first aid, and went through the CITC program. Alen is no stranger to construction and has always been around the industry and specifically in the painting industry for the past 13 years. He really enjoys being a part of a growing team at Scott Coatings. Outside of Scott Coatings Alen really enjoys fishing, hanging out with his dog and firing up the BBQ.

Alex Garcia

Alex recently rejoined the Scott Coatings family as a Foreman leading some of our bigger projects. He attended Lake Washington Institute of Technology and has his certifications on the boom lift and swing lift. Alex has been in the painting industry for the past 17 years. Alex’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings is its family atmosphere. Outside of Scott Coatings Alex really enjoys spending time with his family.

Alexa Tuthill

Safety Manager

Alexa joined Scott Coatings in February of 2022 as our Safety Manager. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Safety and Health Management from Central Washington University. With 5 years of commercial construction safety working for general contractors and OSHA 500 training, Alexa brings the experience needed to maintain and elevate our safety programs. Alexa’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was the opportunity to be a part of the growth of a company and work on the side of a subcontractor vs. general contractor. Outside of Scott Coatings, Alexa loves hiking, biking with her husband, gardening, thrifting, and so much more!

Anthony Hagberg

Anthony Hagberg

Project Manager

Anthony joined Scott Coatings in January of 2024 as a Project Manager. He holds his BS in Computer Science from NSCC. Anthony has his PDCA estimating certification, is OSHA 30 certified, and has over 26 years of experience in the industry. Anthony’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was joining a growing company with a strong team atmosphere. Outside of Scott Coatings, Anthony enjoys back-country exploration, snowmobiling, snowboarding, and many more outdoor activities.

Dinisha Balla

Dinisha joined Scott Coatings in February of 2023 as an Estimator. She most recently pursued her MS in Construction Management at Arizona State University. Dinisha has certifications in OSHA 30, CMAA – CMIT, Procore, and CAD. Dinisha’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was finding the right company where she could start her career in construction. Scott Coatings was that company for her. Outside of Scott Coatings, Dinisha enjoys trekking and exploring new places.

Douglas Borden

Douglas Borden

Purchasing Clerk

Seattle, WA

Douglas joined Scott Coatings in 2021 as a Journeyman Painter and was promoted in August 2022 as one of our Project Engineers. He has over 15 years in the trade, 6 of them being as a member of the Local 300. Douglas has his fall protection, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, and MEWP certifications. His biggest draw to Scott Coatings was the opportunity to coalesce the practical painting skills he’s gathered into a more technical aspect in hopes of furthering his career. Outside of Scott Coatings, Douglas enjoys improving his property and spending time with his family.

Erika Hinostroza

Erika Hinostroza

General Foreman

Erika has been with the Scott Coatings team since 2017 as a General Foreman who supervises our projects and helps assist our foreman team. She graduated in Mexico as a administrative secretary and from ANEW––construction course––here in Seattle. Erika has 5 years’ experience as a painter working her way up start from an apprentice and so on. She has her certifications in ToolWatch, Forklift, Boom lift, CPR, and OSHA 30. Erika’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was her ability to continue to grow in the painting industry. She also loves that the company is very multicultural that allows anyone of any races, religion, and beliefs. Outside of Scott Coatings Erika thoroughly enjoys spending time and traveling with her family.

Faith Campbell

Faith joined Scott Coatings in October of 2021 as a Project Coordinator. She acquired her degree in Economics from the University of Redlands. Her experience in the construction industry is as a Junior Accountant at a local plumbing company. Faith’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was the positive team environment and the fast-paced construction environment. Outside of Scott Coatings, Faith enjoys playing soccer in an adult league and going on hikes.

Ireland attended the University of Washington and double majored in International Studies and Political Science. Ireland’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was the friendly team atmosphere and the opportunity to challenge herself and grow professionally. Outside of Scott Coatings, she enjoys going to concerts, reading murder mysteries, and spending time outdoors.

Jessica Hoppe

Jessica joined Scott Coatings in April of 2015 as a Project Manager––overseeing the painting scope, team support and the constant contact with our customers. She loves the ability to learn and grow with a group of like-minded and goaled individuals in turn has allowed for her to exceed on her on capabilities consistently. Outside of Scott Coatings, Jessica is a dedicated mother to one amazing little boy, Austin, and enjoys camping, traveling, and exercising.

Jim Harris

Industrial General Superintendent

Jim joined Scott Coatings in January of 2024 as our Industrial General Superintendent. Jim has over 30 years of experience in the industry and has his NACE CIP Level 1, SSPC C3/C5 Competent Lead Removal Supervisor certification. Jim’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was learning about the company through Marty Horgan’s experience. Outside of Scott Coatings, Jim enjoys spending time with family, fishing, camping, hunting, and football.

Bucket List: Go White water rafting.

Joe Reynolds

Senior Estimator

Joe joined the Scott Coatings team in April of 2016 as an Estimator providing pricing for projects. He studied Psychology at Washington State University, where he also played as a receiver on their football team. Joe is familiar with the painting trade since he was able to paint during the summers in his college years. It has been a wild and fun ride for him to be a part of the fastest growing painting contractor in the Northwest. He believes that if you work in a place that feels like family, and enjoy going to work every day, you know you’re at the right place. That has shown itself to be true of his time at Scott Coatings. Outside of Scott Coatings Joe enjoys hanging out with family and friends especially at his family cabin in Henry Island that has been the ultimate getaway. He also enjoys anything sports, especially the Hawks and WSU.

Juan Lopez

Juan Lopez

Commercial General Superintendent

Seattle, WA

Juan started in September of 2017 as a General Foreman then later on promoted to a Superintendent where his responsibilities include scheduling, project production, manpower, and improving methods and processes. He has his certifications in boom lift, scissor lift, scaffolding, swing stages, and forklift training. He has also completed a course as a Apprentice and Journeyman at IUPAT. Juan has been in the construction industry for 15 years and specifically in the painting industry for 14 years. Juan believes that he found the place where he enjoys the culture, behavior, and vision to be the biggest and best painting contractor on the Westcoast. He feels that he is at a place where he is valued and is inspired to perform at a high level. Outside of Scott Coatings Juan enjoys time with his family as well as traveling with his kids to soccer games. He is a very competitive guy, so he loves the thrill of the game.

Laurin Preston

Laurin Preston

Principal – Senior Project Manager

Laurin has been at Scott Coatings longer than everyone minus Rob. He has been here since June of 2007 as a Project Manager and now a Principal – Senior Project Manager. His roles have evolved in the more recent years in leading the charge for our project management team on all of our projects. Laurin has a Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing degree from Michigan Tech and Oakland University. He also received his MBA from Wayne State University.  100% of his experience in construction has been with Scott Coatings. What initially started out as a secured job prior to moving west from Detroit quickly blossomed into a passion of his and has become his future. Outside of Scott Coatings Laurin enjoys traveling, boating, camping, skiing, hiking, and really just being outdoors.

Marty Horgan

Vice President of Industrial Operations

Marty joined Scott Coatings in May of 2023 as our Vice President of Industrial Operations. Marty brings over 40 years of industrial coatings experience working in a family business and two large painting contractors in the US. Marty has many certifications, including AMPP Senior Certified Coatings Inspector (NACE CIP Level 3), SSPC C3 Lead Paint Removal, NACE C1, and many more. Marty’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was his admiration of the growth and high level of quality displayed at SC. He also looks forward to laying the foundation for our Industrial Coatings Division. Outside of Scott Coatings, Marty enjoys woodworking, making classic cars, and golfing.

Random Fact: Geeks out over coating failures and corrosion-related issues.
Bucket List: Attend the Masters PGA Tournament in Augusta.

Matt Scott

Business Development

Matt joined the family company back in July of 2012 as an Estimator and now as Business Development Manager. He has his Business degree from Central Washington University. Matt’s experience includes a total of 10 years of field painting and 6 years in the US Navy. He has a strong belief and conviction in the value and goal we seek to accomplish at Scott Coatings and enjoys the fun atmosphere and culture as well. Outside of Scott Coatings Matt enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and going to his family cabin on Henry Island.

Nelson Valencia

Foreman

Nelson joined the Scott Coatings team in February of 2018 as a Foreman and later promoted into the General Foreman role. He has his fall protection, foreman, scaffolding, OSHA 10, Aerial boom/scissor lift, and blueprint training. Nelson has been in the industry for 4 years. His biggest draw to Scott Coatings is that Scott Coatings provided him with the opportunity to grow in his intrapersonal skills that have benefitted him both personally and professionally. Outside of Scott Coatings Nelson enjoys hanging out with his friends.

Nik Carlstrom

Nik Carlstrom

Industrial Project Manager / Estimator

Nik joined Scott Coatings in December of 2023 as a Project Manager / Estimator for our Industrial division. Nik has his BS in Construction Management from Central Washington University. He is certified AMPP CIP Level 1 and brings 12 years of experience in the industrial coatings industry. Outside of Scott Coatings, Nik enjoys snowboarding, hiking, camping, boating, and hanging out with his family and friends.

Pete joined Scott Coatings in December of 2023 as our Director of Oregon Industrial. Pete’s educational background comes from both computer programming and construction management. He brings over 35 years of industrial coatings experience as both a VP and Regional Manager. Pete’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was the opportunity for a new challenge in a new market. Outside of Scott Coatings, Pete enjoys spending a lot of time with his family.

Rob Scott

Rob Scott

Chief Executive Officer

Rob Scott, our founder, wanted to create a company where people didn’t feel like just a number but actually felt valued for who they are. In 2003 that became a reality when he started Scott Coatings from his garage along with his wife and co-founder, Tina Scott. He has always been very familiar with the painting industry starting at age 13 when he was a painter for his father’s commercial and residential painting company. His ability to learn how to paint didn’t only teach him about the trade but it also allowed for him use this skill to fund his own schooling in the process as he graduated from University of Washington with a BA in Administration and a Minor in Finance. Outside of Scott Coatings enjoys playing with his family, golfing and reading.
