UW Student Housing
project description
Back in 2016, UW decided to build new dorms for the North Campus which was the building of Madrona Hall and the demolition of the McCarty Hall and rebuild of it. W.G. Clark was the General Contractor on this project. Both buildings have 571 units that consist of 1-3 undergraduate students per unit. The buildings will also have lounges, small group study spaces, group kitchens and dining areas, music practice rooms, laundry, and storage spaces.
W.G. Clark awarded Scott Coatings the UW Student Housing project painter. This was Scott Coatings’ first major project with W.G. Clark. Scott Coatings’ scope consisted of painting the walls, ceilings, doors, frames, and exterior water repellants. The biggest challenge on this project was running these jobs simultaneously but we were able to push through and get it done. Great project success and W.G. Clark was very happy with the outcome of this project.

Seattle, WALaurin has been at Scott Coatings longer than everyone minus Rob. He has been here since June of 2007 as a Project Manager and now a Principal – Senior Project Manager. His roles have evolved in the more recent years in leading the charge for our project management team on all of our projects. Laurin has a Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing degree from Michigan Tech and Oakland University. He also received his MBA from Wayne State University. 100% of his experience in construction has been with Scott Coatings. What initially started out as a secured job prior to moving west from Detroit quickly blossomed into a passion of his and has become his future. Outside of Scott Coatings Laurin enjoys traveling, boating, camping, skiing, hiking, and really just being outdoors.
- Random Fact: He is the 4th Laurin Preston.
- Bucket list: Visit an African safari with his wife and daughter.
