Alen joined the Scott Coatings team in August of 2019 as a Foreman and plays a key role in leading our projects, teaching others and inspiring positivity. His certifications consist OSHA 30, Lift Training, first aid, and went through the CITC program. Alen is no stranger to construction and has always been around the industry and specifically in the painting industry for the past 13 years. He really enjoys being a part of a growing team at Scott Coatings. Outside of Scott Coatings Alen really enjoys fishing, hanging out with his dog and firing up the BBQ.

- Bucket list: Go fishing with Jeremy Wade from River Monsters.
Alex recently rejoined the Scott Coatings family as a Foreman leading some of our bigger projects. He attended Lake Washington Institute of Technology and has his certifications on the boom lift and swing lift. Alex has been in the painting industry for the past 17 years. Alex’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings is its family atmosphere. Outside of Scott Coatings Alex really enjoys spending time with his family.
- Random Fact: To go to Japan.
Angel joined the Scott Coatings team in May of 2018 as a Foreman leading the charge in some of our more complex projects. He is OSHA 30, First Aid and CPR certified. Angel has been around the industry in both residential and commercial painting for a total of 9 years. His biggest draw to the Scott Coatings team is being given the opportunities to grow within his own role. Outside of Scott Coatings you can find Angel at the gym or working on one of his many cars.
- Random Fact: He was a fisherman in Alaska for 3 years.
- Bucket list: Build his 1000+ HP dream car.
Carlos joined the Scott Coatings family in April of 2013 as a foreman helping run some of our bigger projects. He has his respirator, Lead/Asbestos, Hazcom, Lift, and Fall protection certifications and has been in the construction industry for about 10 years. Carlos’ biggest reason he has stayed at Scott Coatings is his belief that we are a great company and he is thrilled to be a part of it. Outside of Scott Coatings, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his family and watching the entire NFL season.
- Random Fact: He is very interested in aviation specifically the mechanical side
- Bucket list: He would love to visit all the countries in Latin-American
Carlos joined the Scott Coatings crew in January of 2018 as a painter and more recently promoted into the Foreman position. He has his certifications in CPR and Boom lift training. With 19 years of experience in the painting industry, Carlos’ biggest draw to Scott Coatings was the opportunity to learn through all of our class training as well as on the job training, he has had. Outside of Scott Coatings Carlos enjoys traveling, camping and fishing.

Casey joined the Scott Coatings team in February of 2020 as an Estimator. He attended Georgia College and State University and graduated with a bachelor’s in science. He has 2 years of experience is the electrician side of construction. Casey’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings is that he believes this is a place where he can further his career and believes this is the type of company everyone should work for. Outside of Scott Coatings, he enjoys disc golf, hiking, golf, nature photography, video editing, camping and traveling.
- Random Fact: He played college baseball for three years and has 2 World Series rings from summer baseball.
- Bucket list: To disc golf in Sweden
Choi––one of our longest tenure team members––joined Scott Coatings in July of 2010 as a Foreman. He has his certifications in both Boom lift and Scissor lift. With over 35 years in the industry, Choi’s reason for joining the Scott Coatings family is the teamwork / collaboration type atmosphere. Outside of Scott Coatings Choi really enjoys fishing.

Chief Operating Officer
Dave recently joined the Scott Coatings family as our new COO. He attended Willesden College studying Construction Technology & Surveying and has over 10 years experience of commercial construction/demolition/environmental remediation/construction site services. Dave has worked with Rob & Scott externally for a number of years to support growth, strategy & execution and has a vested interest in the company’s success and evolution. Outside of Scott Coatings, Dave really enjoys race car driving, motorcycling, mountain biking, reading and traveling with a bucket list of visiting every Formula One race venue globally (3 down, 17 to go!).
- Random Fact: Not bad at crossword puzzles.
David joined the Scott Coatings team in August of 2017 as a painter and later promoted to a Foreman with a focus on exterior painting. He has a technical degree in Administrative Accounting from his country in Mexico and has his certifications in both boom and scissor lift training. With his 10 years in both residential and commercial experience, David enjoys the opportunity he has to grow in the trade at Scott Coatings. Outside of Scott Coatings he enjoys spending time with his family and church as well as kayaking.

Sr. Project Manager
Don joined Scott Coatings in the Summer of 2018 as a Senior Project Manager overseeing some of our biggest projects. He also plays a big role in mentoring our younger PM’s, PE’s, and Estimators leveraging our use of technology internally. Don is NACE Level II Certified. He is no stranger to the industry having worked for his family business as well as other painting companies in the commercial and industrial sectors for the past 40 years. Don’s biggest reason he joined Scott Coatings was his excitement toward building something new and great from start to finish. Outside of Scott Coatings he enjoys hiking, skiing, and playing with his children and grandchildren outdoors.
- Random Fact: He loves to play acoustic guitar.
- Bucket list: Tour Europe for a couple months.
Erika has been with the Scott Coatings team since 2017 as a General Foreman who supervises our projects and helps assist our foreman team. She graduated in Mexico as a administrative secretary and from ANEW––construction course––here in Seattle. Erika has 5 years’ experience as a painter working her way up start from an apprentice and so on. She has her certifications in ToolWatch, Forklift, Boom lift, CPR, and OSHA 30. Erika’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was her ability to continue to grow in the painting industry. She also loves that the company is very multicultural that allows anyone of any races, religion, and beliefs. Outside of Scott Coatings Erika thoroughly enjoys spending time and traveling with her family.

Erin joined the Scott Coatings team in May of 2020 and is in the Accounts Payable and Payroll department. She joined the team because she felt the company reflects her personal values and has a team of great people. Outside of work, Erin is an avid reader – especially Sci-fi; Animal lover, from fuzzy faces to reptiles.

Eva joined the Scott Coatings team in the summer of 2019 as a foreman. She has her certifications in both CPR and first aid. Eva brings in a lot of expertise and a ton of attention to detail when it comes to running some of our projects. Her main draw to Scott Coatings was the ability to join a team and instantly feel like family right away. Outside of Scott Coatings Eva enjoys spending time with her kids.
- Random Fact: Her husband is teaching her how to be a car mechanic.
- Bucket list: She would like to go to Disneyland with her family.
Guillermo joined the Scott Coatings family in April of 2017 as a Foreman running some of our bigger more complex projects. He went to college to learn drafting and design and is a CITC graduate. He is OSHA 10 certified and has his CPR certification. With 7 years of experience, Guillermo’s biggest intrigue in joining Scott Coatings are the challenges that we face on a consistent basis and finding solutions to them. Outside of Scott Coatings he enjoys hiking and going to car shows.

Hector joined the Scott Coatings team in 2017 as a foreman with more of a focus on exterior work. He has his boom lift, scissor lift and first aid certifications. Hector has a total of 9 years in the trade. His biggest draw to Scott Coatings is the ability to be given ownership over projects and show what he is capable of doing. Outside of Scott Coatings Hector enjoys spending time at home with his family.

Jaime joined the Scott Coatings team in March of 2018 as a Painter than promoted to Foreman. He has his OSHA 30, CPR, boom and scissor lift certifications. Jaime has been in the painting industry for almost 20 years in total. He enjoys being a Scott Coatings due to the ability to grow alongside a growing company. Outside of Scott Coatings Jaime enjoys driving sports cars.
- Random Fact: He enjoys working on his cars on the weekends.
- Bucket list: Buy a house near Cancun.
Jessica joined Scott Coatings in April of 2015 as a Project Manager––overseeing the painting scope, team support and the constant contact with our customers. She loves the ability to learn and grow with a group of like-minded and goaled individuals in turn has allowed for her to exceed on her on capabilities consistently. Outside of Scott Coatings, Jessica is a dedicated mother to one amazing little boy, Austin, and enjoys camping, traveling, and exercising.

- Bucket list: Travel to every continent.
Joe joined the Scott Coatings team in April of 2016 as an Estimator providing pricing for projects. He studied Psychology at Washington State University, where he also played as a receiver on their football team. Joe is familiar with the painting trade since he was able to paint during the summers in his college years. It has been a wild and fun ride for him to be a part of the fastest growing painting contractor in the Northwest. He believes that if you work in a place that feels like family, and enjoy going to work every day, you know you’re at the right place. That has shown itself to be true of his time at Scott Coatings. Outside of Scott Coatings Joe enjoys hanging out with family and friends especially at his family cabin in Henry Island that has been the ultimate getaway. He also enjoys anything sports, especially the Hawks and WSU.

Joel joined the Scott Coatings family in June of 2017 as a General Superintendent who oversees and manages all of our field operations. He got his degree in Business Administration from Universidad Gerrardo Barrios in El Salvador as well as studied Construction Management at Edmonds Community College. Joel has over 17 years of experience in the construction industry. He has a great belief in the company culture and the mission this company seeks to achieve. Outside of Scott Coatings Joel enjoys spending time with his family, on cars, camping and watching movies.
- Random Fact: He has a photographic memory.
- Bucket list: To visit Japan.
Juan started in September of 2017 as a General Foreman then later on promoted to a Superintendent where his responsibilities include scheduling, project production, manpower, and improving methods and processes. He has his certifications in boom lift, scissor lift, scaffolding, swing stages, and forklift training. He has also completed a course as a Apprentice and Journeyman at IUPAT. Juan has been in the construction industry for 15 years and specifically in the painting industry for 14 years. Juan believes that he found the place where he enjoys the culture, behavior, and vision to be the biggest and best painting contractor on the Westcoast. He feels that he is at a place where he is valued and is inspired to perform at a high level. Outside of Scott Coatings Juan enjoys time with his family as well as traveling with his kids to soccer games. He is a very competitive guy, so he loves the thrill of the game.

- Bucket list: Travel outside of earth.
Principal – Senior Project Manager
Laurin has been at Scott Coatings longer than everyone minus Rob. He has been here since June of 2007 as a Project Manager and now a Principal – Senior Project Manager. His roles have evolved in the more recent years in leading the charge for our project management team on all of our projects. Laurin has a Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing degree from Michigan Tech and Oakland University. He also received his MBA from Wayne State University. 100% of his experience in construction has been with Scott Coatings. What initially started out as a secured job prior to moving west from Detroit quickly blossomed into a passion of his and has become his future. Outside of Scott Coatings Laurin enjoys traveling, boating, camping, skiing, hiking, and really just being outdoors.
- Random Fact: He is the 4th Laurin Preston.
- Bucket list: Visit an African safari with his wife and daughter.
Lucio joined the Scott Coatings family in April of 2018 as a foreman running some of our biggest projects. He has his CPR, Forklift, Boom lift, and OSHA 30 certifications. With 12 years in the trade, Lucio’s biggest attraction to Scott Coatings is the ability to further his growth in the trade. Outside of Scott Coatings Lucio enjoys playing soccer and cooking for his family and friends.
- Random Fact: He was an Industrial Engineer in Mexico.
- Bucket list: To travel to Rome and Italy.
Makala joined Scott Coatings in 2019 as a Project Coordinator who provides administrative work for our projects and project management team. She went to Eastern Washington University and Clark College where she majored in Business Management. She was a Project Manager for a Digital Media Company as well as a Office Manager for an architect firm in Vancouver, WA. Makala joined Scott Coatings to be a part of a growing company that believes in dedicating their time and efforts in developing their employees and culture around our core values. Outside of Scott Coatings Makala enjoys traveling, playing tennis and spending time with her family, friends, and puppies.

- Bucket list: To go skydiving.
Marco joined the Scott Coatings team in 2013 as a foreman leading some of our bigger multifamily projects. He has his CPR, Lead, Elevated Work certifications. Marco has 20 years in the painting trade. His biggest draw to Scott Coatings and really why he stays is because of the amount of growth he has experienced here and how much he enjoys what he does. Outside of Scott Coatings he enjoys driving sports cars as well as spending quality time with his sons.
- Random Fact: Enjoying retirement on everything he has accomplished and built.
Martin is one of the longest standing employees and has been at Scott Coatings since 2005 and has worked his way up into a foreman. He has his respirator, boom lift, lead, fall protection, and HAZCOM certifications. Martin has a total of 17 years of experience of being in the trade and has the majority of it spent at Scott Coatings. The main reason he stays is because––in his opinion––Scott Coatings is the best. Outside of Scott Coatings Martin enjoys spending time with his family and going to the gym.
- Random Fact: Enjoys going to the casino.
- Bucket list: To go to Disneyworld in Florida.
Matt joined the family company back in July of 2012 as an Estimator and now as Business Development and Sales Manager. He has his Associates in Business from Highline College and is currently in the process of getting his Business degree from Central Washington University. Matt’s experience includes a total of 10 years of painting experience and 6 years in the US Navy. He has a strong belief and conviction in the value and goal we seek to accomplish at Scott Coatings and enjoys the fun atmosphere and culture as well. Outside of Scott Coatings Matt enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and going to his family cabin on Henry Island.
- Random Fact: He was part of the capture and holding of 13 pirates.
- Bucket list: Climb Mt. Rainer.
Michael recently joined Scott Coatings in the fall of 2019 as a Superintendent focused primarily on our Wall Covering crew. He has his training from the Local 300 Painters Union. With 30 years of experience in the painting industry Michael has also owned his own painting company for 12 of those 30 years. Now with all of his experience and expertise, he decided to join a growing company at Scott Coatings where his goal and focus is to build a quality crew of installers to make a high benchmark standard in the industry. Outside of Scott Coatings Michael enjoys snowmobile riding. He enjoys it so much that he was able to put in 68 days of riding on the snow last year.
- Random Fact: He collects antique snowshoes.
- Bucket list: To go snowmobiling in July in the country of Chile.
Mike joined the Scott Coatings family in Fall of 2019 as our Warehouse Manager working closely with our field management team. He has his major in Business from University of Washington. Mike has over 30 years of experience in construction primarily in the ferrous and nonferrous metals, fabrication and coatings industry. From his first interview, Mike sensed that the Scott Coatings team were on a journey to build something unusually different. He remembers hearing words like integrity, work ethic, giving back to the community and the need for help to grow Scott Coatings as the biggest player in the industry. Naturally being drawn to that whole experience he was able to identify a way he could contribute drastically to making our warehouse a well-oiled machine. Outside of Scott Coatings Mike and his wife enjoy being there for their aging parents and seeing how their children and grandchildren are finding their way in their lives. He also enjoys updating his home, gardening, travel, music, hiking, art, biking, golfing and so much more.
- Random Fact: It took him most of his life to find someone as weird as himself.
- Bucket list: To go to Jerusalem, Africa, and more of Spain to find the next best diving spot.
Nelson joined the Scott Coatings team in February of 2018 as a Foreman and later promoted into the General Foreman role. He has his fall protection, foreman, scaffolding, OSHA 10, Aerial boom/scissor lift, and blueprint training. Nelson has been in the industry for 4 years. His biggest draw to Scott Coatings is that Scott Coatings provided him with the opportunity to grow in his intrapersonal skills that have benefitted him both personally and professionally. Outside of Scott Coatings Nelson enjoys hanging out with his friends.
- Random Fact: He is a musician.
- Bucket list: He would like to retire at the age of 38.
Osvaldo joined our SC Family in August of 2018 as a Foreman. He has respiratory and CPR certifications. With his 8 years of experience in the trade it was natural for him to join a growing team like this one that has offered him many opportunities for growth in the trade. Outside of Scott Coatings Osvaldo enjoys spending time with his family.

Ricardo joined the Scott Coatings team in July of 2018 as a foreman running some of our biggest projects to date. He has his fall protection, respiratory, and boom lift certifications. Ricardo with his 5 years of experience in the trade he felt Scott Coatings was a great company to be a part of––given its recent growth. Outside of Scott Coatings Ricardo enjoys being a car salesman and traveling.

- Bucket list: Build his own house.
Rob Scott, our founder, wanted to create a company where people didn’t feel like just a number but actually felt valued for who they are. In 2003 that became a reality when he started Scott Coatings from his garage along with his wife and co-founder, Tina Scott. He has always been very familiar with the painting industry starting at age 13 when he was a painter for his father’s commercial and residential painting company. His ability to learn how to paint didn’t only teach him about the trade but it also allowed for him use this skill to fund his own schooling in the process as he graduated from University of Washington with a BA in Administration and a Minor in Finance. Outside of Scott Coatings enjoys playing with his family, golfing and reading.
- Random Fact: He can beatbox.
- Bucket list: Spend a month at a monastery.
Rudy joined the Scott Coatings family in July of 2018 as a foreman and later promoted as a General Foreman. Rudy went to Whatcom Community College and received his Associates in Business Administration. Rudy has been around the painting industry since he was a kid where his father taught him about the the trade but also has experience as a residential electrician and owned his own residential general contracting company. His biggest reason in joining and staying at Scott Coatings is due to the great working environment and is a company that he can grow with. Outside of Scott Coatings Rudy loves watching and playing baseball, spending time with his German Shepard, April, and going on road trips.
- Random Fact: He can play guitar, bass, drums and piano.
- Bucket list: Go to French New Guinea and visit Bora Bora.
Accounts Payable / Payroll
Suzanne is a creative and highly organized team player with 25+ years of experience including accounting, office management, purchasing, customer service, sales and project management. She has an Associate’s degree in Business Accounting. What initially started out as just a job has expanded into an environment, culture, and trajectory that keep her coming back every day. Outside of Scott Coatings Suzanne enjoys exploring her creative side through artwork and design/build projects as well as spending time with her husband and 4 legged kiddos.
- Random Fact: You don’t want to see her overly caffeinated.
- Bucket list: Open an Art Gallery.
Ubaldo joined the Scott Coatings workforce in August of 2018 as a painter and recently promoted to the Foreman position. He has a total of 6 years in the painting industry. Ubaldo’s has stayed with Scott Coatings because he feels a part of something bigger than himself and he loves what he does. Outside of Scott Coatings Ubaldo enjoys spending time with his kids.

- Bucket list: Buy his own truck.
Vivek recently joined the Scott Coatings team in the fall of 2019 as a Project Engineer where he provides management and administrative support to our Project Managers. He has his degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in Construction Management and also is OSHA30 and CMIT certified. Vivek has been in the industry for 2 years where he supervised daily construction activities. His biggest draw to Scott Coatings is our high value on our employees where we encourage them to learn, grow and ultimately innovate. Outside of Scott Coatings Vivek loves road trips, cooking and is a movie buff.
- Random Fact: He is a good dancer.
- Bucket list: Solo trip to Europe.
Whitney joined the Scott Coatings team in 2019 supporting our amazing employees as our HR Manager. She has her BA in Psychology from Knox College and her MBA––with an emphasis in HR––from Grand Canyon University. This is her first time working in the painting and construction industry, but she has worked in HR for 5 years in other industries. Whitney was drawn to Scott Coatings because our core values. She watched some of our monthly “Value Videos” we do with different employees in our company and was instantly knew she wanted to be a part of this growing team. Whitney enjoys spending time with her family as her and her husband are adjusting to life as new parents. She loves traveling so much that she recently returned from Arizona to see the Seahawks beat the Cardinals with her 4-month-old.
- Random Fact: Her middle name is Vietnamese even though she isn’t Vietnamese.
