Alen Adjemovic
Foreman
Seattle, WA
Alen joined the Scott Coatings team in August of 2019 as a Foreman and plays a key role in leading our projects, teaching others and inspiring positivity. His certifications consist OSHA 30, Lift Training, first aid, and went through the CITC program. Alen is no stranger to construction and has always been around the industry and specifically in the painting industry for the past 13 years. He really enjoys being a part of a growing team at Scott Coatings. Outside of Scott Coatings Alen really enjoys fishing, hanging out with his dog and firing up the BBQ.
- Random Fact: He can snowboard.
- Bucket list: Go fishing with Jeremy Wade from River Monsters.

Alex Garcia
Foreman
Seattle, WA
Alex recently rejoined the Scott Coatings family as a Foreman leading some of our bigger projects. He attended Lake Washington Institute of Technology and has his certifications on the boom lift and swing lift. Alex has been in the painting industry for the past 17 years. Alex’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings is its family atmosphere. Outside of Scott Coatings Alex really enjoys spending time with his family.

Alexa Tuthill
Safety Manager
Seattle, WA
Alexa joined Scott Coatings in February of 2022 as our Safety Manager. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Safety and Health Management from Central Washington University. With 5 years of commercial construction safety working for general contractors and OSHA 500 training, Alexa brings the experience needed to maintain and elevate our safety programs. Alexa’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was the opportunity to be a part of the growth of a company and work on the side of a subcontractor vs. general contractor. Outside of Scott Coatings, Alexa loves hiking, biking with her husband, gardening, thrifting, and so much more!

Casey Johnson
Project Manager
Seattle, WA
Casey joined the Scott Coatings team in February of 2020 as an Estimator. He attended Georgia College and State University and graduated with a bachelor’s in science. He has 2 years of experience is the electrician side of construction. Casey’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings is that he believes this is a place where he can further his career and believes this is the type of company everyone should work for. Outside of Scott Coatings, he enjoys disc golf, hiking, golf, nature photography, video editing, camping and traveling.
- Random Fact: He played college baseball for three years and has 2 World Series rings from summer baseball.

David Jones
Warehouse Manager
Seattle, WA
David joined Scott Coatings in September of 2022 as our Warehouse Coordinator. David brings over 25 years as a painter and has his Journeyman level certifications through the Local 300. He is currently attending the RTC Construction Management program, where he looks to further his knowledge and career. David’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was his ability to continue to advance his career in the commercial construction industry. Outside of Scott Coatings, David enjoys being outside and enjoying outdoor recreational activities.

- Bucket List: He just wants to maximize his new experiences, including his family.

Dinisha Balla
Estimator
Seattle, WA
Dinisha joined Scott Coatings in February of 2023 as an Estimator. She most recently pursued her MS in Construction Management at Arizona State University. Dinisha has certifications in OSHA 30, CMAA – CMIT, Procore, and CAD. Dinisha’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was finding the right company where she could start her career in construction. Scott Coatings was that company for her. Outside of Scott Coatings, Dinisha enjoys trekking and exploring new places.
Random Fact: She’s an insomniac
Bucket List: Climbing Mount Everest.

Douglas Borden
Project Engineer
Seattle, WA
Douglas joined Scott Coatings in 2021 as a Journeyman Painter and was promoted in August 2022 as one of our Project Engineers. He has over 15 years in the trade, 6 of them being as a member of the Local 300. Douglas has his fall protection, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, and MEWP certifications. His biggest draw to Scott Coatings was the opportunity to coalesce the practical painting skills he’s gathered into a more technical aspect in hopes of furthering his career. Outside of Scott Coatings, Douglas enjoys improving his property and spending time with his family.

Erika Hinostroza
General Foreman
Seattle, WA
Erika has been with the Scott Coatings team since 2017 as a General Foreman who supervises our projects and helps assist our foreman team. She graduated in Mexico as a administrative secretary and from ANEW––construction course––here in Seattle. Erika has 5 years’ experience as a painter working her way up start from an apprentice and so on. She has her certifications in ToolWatch, Forklift, Boom lift, CPR, and OSHA 30. Erika’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was her ability to continue to grow in the painting industry. She also loves that the company is very multicultural that allows anyone of any races, religion, and beliefs. Outside of Scott Coatings Erika thoroughly enjoys spending time and traveling with her family.

Erika Young
Payroll & Benefits Administrator
Seattle, WA
Erika joined Scott Coatings in September of 2023 as our Payroll and Benefits Administrator. Erika brings six years of experience in payroll and accounts payable for construction and staffing companies. Her biggest draw to Scott Coatings was that it was a locally owned and operated business. Erika’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was the team environment she experienced during her interviews. Outside of Scott Coatings, Erika enjoys spending time with family, preferably with their hotrods.

Faith Campbell
Estimator
Seattle, WA
Faith joined Scott Coatings in October of 2021 as a Project Coordinator. She acquired her degree in Economics from the University of Redlands. Her experience in the construction industry is as a Junior Accountant at a local plumbing company. Faith’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was the positive team environment and the fast-paced construction environment. Outside of Scott Coatings, Faith enjoys playing soccer in an adult league and going on hikes.

Ireland Scheer
Office Manager
Seattle, WA
Ireland joined Scott Coatings in July of 2023 as our Office Manager. Ireland attended the University of Washington and double majored in International Studies and Political Science. Ireland’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was the friendly team atmosphere and the opportunity to challenge herself and grow professionally. Outside of Scott Coatings, she enjoys going to concerts, reading murder mysteries, and spending time outdoors.

- Bucket List: Visit all the US national parks.

Jessica Hoppe
Project Director
Seattle, WA
Jessica joined Scott Coatings in April of 2015 as a Project Manager––overseeing the painting scope, team support and the constant contact with our customers. She loves the ability to learn and grow with a group of like-minded and goaled individuals in turn has allowed for her to exceed on her on capabilities consistently. Outside of Scott Coatings, Jessica is a dedicated mother to one amazing little boy, Austin, and enjoys camping, traveling, and exercising.

Joe Reynolds
Senior Estimator
Seattle, WA
Joe joined the Scott Coatings team in April of 2016 as an Estimator providing pricing for projects. He studied Psychology at Washington State University, where he also played as a receiver on their football team. Joe is familiar with the painting trade since he was able to paint during the summers in his college years. It has been a wild and fun ride for him to be a part of the fastest growing painting contractor in the Northwest. He believes that if you work in a place that feels like family, and enjoy going to work every day, you know you’re at the right place. That has shown itself to be true of his time at Scott Coatings. Outside of Scott Coatings Joe enjoys hanging out with family and friends especially at his family cabin in Henry Island that has been the ultimate getaway. He also enjoys anything sports, especially the Hawks and WSU.
- Random Fact: He has never had a brain freeze.
- Bucket List: To go to a Superbowl.

Juan Lopez
General Superintendent
Seattle, WA
Juan started in September of 2017 as a General Foreman then later on promoted to a Superintendent where his responsibilities include scheduling, project production, manpower, and improving methods and processes. He has his certifications in boom lift, scissor lift, scaffolding, swing stages, and forklift training. He has also completed a course as a Apprentice and Journeyman at IUPAT. Juan has been in the construction industry for 15 years and specifically in the painting industry for 14 years. Juan believes that he found the place where he enjoys the culture, behavior, and vision to be the biggest and best painting contractor on the Westcoast. He feels that he is at a place where he is valued and is inspired to perform at a high level. Outside of Scott Coatings Juan enjoys time with his family as well as traveling with his kids to soccer games. He is a very competitive guy, so he loves the thrill of the game.

- Bucket list: Travel outside of earth.

Laurin Preston
Principal – Senior Project Manager
Seattle, WA
Laurin has been at Scott Coatings longer than everyone minus Rob. He has been here since June of 2007 as a Project Manager and now a Principal – Senior Project Manager. His roles have evolved in the more recent years in leading the charge for our project management team on all of our projects. Laurin has a Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing degree from Michigan Tech and Oakland University. He also received his MBA from Wayne State University. 100% of his experience in construction has been with Scott Coatings. What initially started out as a secured job prior to moving west from Detroit quickly blossomed into a passion of his and has become his future. Outside of Scott Coatings Laurin enjoys traveling, boating, camping, skiing, hiking, and really just being outdoors.
- Random Fact: He is the 4th Laurin Preston.
- Bucket list: Visit an African safari with his wife and daughter.

Marty Horgan
Vice President of Industrial Operations
Seattle, WA
Marty joined Scott Coatings in May of 2023 as our Vice President of Industrial Operations. Marty brings over 40 years of industrial coatings experience working in a family business and two large painting contractors in the US. Marty has many certifications, including AMPP Senior Certified Coatings Inspector (NACE CIP Level 3), SSPC C3 Lead Paint Removal, NACE C1, and many more. Marty’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was his admiration of the growth and high level of quality displayed at SC. He also looks forward to laying the foundation for our Industrial Coatings Division. Outside of Scott Coatings, Marty enjoys woodworking, making classic cars, and golfing.
Random Fact: Geeks out over coating failures and corrosion-related issues.
Bucket List: Attend the Masters PGA Tournament in Augusta.

Matt Scott
Business Development
Seattle, WA
Matt joined the family company back in July of 2012 as an Estimator and now as Business Development Manager. He has his Business degree from Central Washington University. Matt’s experience includes a total of 10 years of field painting and 6 years in the US Navy. He has a strong belief and conviction in the value and goal we seek to accomplish at Scott Coatings and enjoys the fun atmosphere and culture as well. Outside of Scott Coatings Matt enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and going to his family cabin on Henry Island.
- Random Fact: He was part of the capture and holding of 13 pirates.
- Bucket list: Climb Mt. Rainer.

Nelson Valencia
Foreman
Seattle, WA
Nelson joined the Scott Coatings team in February of 2018 as a Foreman and later promoted into the General Foreman role. He has his fall protection, foreman, scaffolding, OSHA 10, Aerial boom/scissor lift, and blueprint training. Nelson has been in the industry for 4 years. His biggest draw to Scott Coatings is that Scott Coatings provided him with the opportunity to grow in his intrapersonal skills that have benefitted him both personally and professionally. Outside of Scott Coatings Nelson enjoys hanging out with his friends.
- Random Fact: He is a musician.
- Bucket list: He would like to retire at the age of 38.

Nick Alexander
Controller
Seattle, WA
Nick joined Scott Coatings in September of 2023 as our Controller. Nick holds his Master of Accounting degree from UNC Chapel Hill and his Bachelors in Economics and German Literature from Vanderbilt University. Nick brings over ten years of experience in public accounting in the software and professional services industry. Nick’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was from his prior positive experience working with Scott Coatings in an interim capacity. Outside of Scott Coatings, Nick enjoys running and swimming.
- Random Fact: He’s a bird watcher.
- Bucket List: Swim 10,000 meters.

Rob Scott
Chief Executive Officer
Seattle, WA
Rob Scott, our founder, wanted to create a company where people didn’t feel like just a number but actually felt valued for who they are. In 2003 that became a reality when he started Scott Coatings from his garage along with his wife and co-founder, Tina Scott. He has always been very familiar with the painting industry starting at age 13 when he was a painter for his father’s commercial and residential painting company. His ability to learn how to paint didn’t only teach him about the trade but it also allowed for him use this skill to fund his own schooling in the process as he graduated from University of Washington with a BA in Administration and a Minor in Finance. Outside of Scott Coatings enjoys playing with his family, golfing and reading.

- Bucket list: Spend a month at a monastery.

Ryan Dickerson
Chief Operating Officer
Seattle, WA
Ryan joined Scott Coatings in April of 2022 as our Chief Operating Officer. Ryan has spent the last 16 years at McKinstry in various roles identifying and implementing business operations strategies and processes to optimize efficiency and results. He holds a Bachelors in Marketing and Management Information Systems from Washington State University and his MBA from LSU. He is certified in LEED AP, Lean Sigma Six Green Belt, and PMP. Ryan’s biggest draw to Scott Coatings was to help advance the paint and coatings industry in a way that provides greater value to its customers. Outside of Scott Coatings, Ryan enjoys collecting old coins, art, and other collectibles.
- Random Fact: He’s competed in data analytics competitions…for fun.
- Bucket List: Attend a game in as many MLB, NFL, and NBA venues as possible.

Steve Penington
Vice President of Field Operations
Seattle, WA
Steve joined Scott Coatings in July of 2021 as our Production Manager. He has just about every certification out there that includes OSHA 30, CPR First Aid, 9 other OSHA certifications, COVID-19 training, Swing Stage, Scissor/Boom Lift, SSPC QCS, and many more certifications. Steve has over 37 years of experience in the marine, industrial, and commercial painting industries. The biggest reason that he joined Scott Coatings was the opportunity to make a difference and be a part of a growing company. Outside of Scott Coatings, Steve enjoys working on classic cars.

Vivek Vattyam
Project Manager
Seattle, WA
Vivek recently joined the Scott Coatings team in the fall of 2019 as a Project Engineer where he provides management and administrative support to our Project Managers. He has his degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in Construction Management and also is OSHA30 and CMIT certified. Vivek has been in the industry for 2 years where he supervised daily construction activities. His biggest draw to Scott Coatings is our high value on our employees where we encourage them to learn, grow and ultimately innovate. Outside of Scott Coatings Vivek loves road trips, cooking and is a movie buff.
